Bruno Guimaraes and Nick Woltemade struck to hand Newcastle United a 2-0 Premier League win over Nottingham Forest at St James’ Park, deepening the pressure on visiting Coach Ange Postecoglou.
Guimaraes curled in the opener just before the hour mark. Forest players protested that he had fouled Morgan Gibbs-White in the build-up but their appeals were waved away. Newcastle, who had been the Premier League’s lowest scorers heading into the game, suddenly found rhythm.
Woltemade went close when his effort rattled the crossbar before sealing the win from the spot after Elliot Anderson brought down Guimaraes inside the box. Chants of “you’re getting sacked ithey n the morning” echoed around the stadium as Forest, stuck in 17th on the Premier League table, remain winless under Postecoglou.
At Goodison Park, Jack Grealish was the hero as Everton came from behind to end Crystal Palace’s 19-match unbeaten run. Daniel Munoz had put Palace in front, but Iliman Ndiaye equalised from the penalty spot before Grealish pounced in stoppage time to seal the win for the Toffees.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa extended their winning streak to four games in all competitions with a 2-1 triumph over Burnley. Donyell Malen netted twice, either side of Emi Martinez’s superb save, while Lesley Ugochukwu’s late header proved only a consolation for the struggling Clarets.
At Molineux, Wolves looked set for their first league win since April after Bart Verbruggen’s own goal put them ahead. But with manager Vitor Pereira controversially sent off, Brighton clawed back late as Jan Paul van Hecke’s powerful header snatched a 1-1 draw.
