Former Manchester United goalkeeper, David De Gea is on the brink of making a return to football after a year-long hiatus. The 33-year-old has been out of action since leaving Old Trafford and is now nearing a deal with Serie A side Fiorentina.
De Gea spent 12 years at Manchester United, where he became a crucial figure and fan favorite. During his tenure, he made 545 appearances and won several trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, two EFL Cups, and two Community Shields. Despite attracting interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, De Gea remained without a team throughout the previous season.
Recent reports from transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano indicate that De Gea is close to finalizing a move to Fiorentina. The agreement comes after negotiations with Genoa fell through, reportedly due to De Gea’s salary demands. Fiorentina, who have competed in the last two UEFA Conference League finals, offer De Gea a new challenge and the opportunity to continue his career at a high level.
De Gea’s move to Fiorentina represents a fresh start for the Spanish goalkeeper. He will be eager to revive his career and contribute to the team’s success. Additionally, De Gea may look to reestablish himself in Spain’s international setup under Luis de la Fuente, who previously managed him at youth level.
