‘No Plan To Lift Dangote Fuel Soon’

Posted by on September 11, 2024 | 9:27 am 0

The hope that Dangote Refinery’s fuel would be available to Nigerians in the coming week may be dashed as a source said it would not be possible soon.

Recall that the Executive Vice President of Downstream, Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Adedapo Segun, had, during a television interview, promised that the company would start lifting petrol from Dangote Refinery from Sunday, 15th September.

A source, however, told Daily Post that it would not be possible. The insider disclosed that no documentation has been done between NNPCL, Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) on lifting the petrol.

As we speak, no documentation from NNPCL and NMDPRA (Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority) on product lifting from Dangote Refinery.

“There is no arrangement to lift petrol from Dangote on 15 September 2024,” the paper quoted the anonymous government source.

The new development may hinder the relief Nigerians had hoped for, as the spokesperson of the Crude Oil Refiners Association of Nigeria, Eche Idoko, on Tuesday, in an interview, explained that the price of fuel would come down if Dangote refinery sells its product to the government in naira.

Idoko, however, explained that it would be dependent on if the federal government keeps its promise to sell crude oil to Dangote Refinery and other local refineries in naira.

There’s no way his fuel will be too expensive if all the other concessions the government has arranged come to bear. So, if those come to bear, definitely his prices will be cheaper,” Idoko said.
