Super Eagles forward Sadiq Umar may be in trouble after sharing a controversial photo on social media. The image, which featured a middle finger gesture, is commonly regarded as offensive.

The post has attracted attention amid rumors that Real Sociedad, his current club, is looking to offload him.

Umar, who joined Real Sociedad from Almeria last summer for a club-record €20 million, has struggled to make an impact this season. He managed only three goals and one assist in 26 La Liga appearances.

Following the backlash, Sadiq quickly removed the offending post and replaced it with an apology on Instagram. He wrote, “Apologies on my recent post, it was a post by mistake. I didn’t do it intentionally. I am not referring to something or against anyone. Thanks for your understanding, you all should stay blessed.”

Real Sociedad has yet to comment on the situation, but the incident could strain relations between the player and the club. Rumours suggest that Sadiq may be on the move this summer, with Getafe being a potential destination.
