Naija News reports that this information was communicated to customers via a notice shared on the company’s official X account.
The increase has been approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).
The new tariff structure took effect on January 1, 2025.
Under the revised rates, customers in Band A feeders will now be charged between ₦219.70 and ₦241.45 per kilowatt-hour, up from the previous rate of ₦99/kWh.
Customers in Band B will see their rates rise to between ₦180.77 and ₦203/kWh, while those in Band C will pay between ₦145 and ₦205/kWh.
Aba DisCo has indicated that this tariff adjustment is a response to the prevailing macroeconomic conditions.
“We also wish to inform you that we have recently received an approval order from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) for an adjustment of electricity tariffs, effective January 1, 2025.
“This adjustment will enable us to cushion the effects of recent macroeconomic developments in Nigeria on our ability to continue to deliver a high quality of service to our customers in compliance with regulatory standards,” the announcement reads.
