The 2024-2025 NPFL matchday one fixtures have all been rescheduled to Sunday and Monday due to the Super Eagles of Nigeria 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Benin Republic in Uyo on Saturday, September 7.

Note that the reigning champions of the NPFL, Enugu Rangers, have opened the new campaign against the newly promoted El-Kanemi Warriors, who doubled as the winners of the President Cup.

The league opener which took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, on August 31, ended in a barren draw to the disappointment of the home fans.

A week after the league opener, the remaining 9 fixtures in matchday one will go down across Nigeria on Sunday and Monday. One of the ties to look forward to is the game between Enyimba of Aba and the newly registered side, Heartland of Owerri.

Another blockbuster tie to watch out for is the game between coach Finidi George’s Rivers United and Bendel Insurance, who finished the abridged version of the 2023 season unbeaten but failed to maintain the momentum in the playoffs.
