Akwa United FC defeated Enugu Rangers International FC 1-0 in a pre-season friendly match on Saturday September 16. SportsRation reports.
The match took place at the Practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
In the first half, Enugu Rangers skipper Chukwudi Nwaodu came close to scoring on two occasions while Hadi Mohammed and Oshomo tested the visitors goal in a drab first half.
Akwa United FC Head Coach Fatai Osho made wholesale changes for the second half, same system as in the 1-0 win over Heartland FC earlier in the week.
Just like In the win over Heartland FC, the Promise Keepers dominated proceedings in the second half and got due reward in the 65th minute when Oguntayo Seyi powered a shot from 30-yards past the Rangers goalkeeper for the match-winner.
It finished, Akwa United FC 1-0 Enugu Rangers International FC, a first pre-season defeat for Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu’s men.
In continuation of their pre-season activities, Enugu Rangers International FC will face Nigeria National League club, FC ONE Rocket on Sunday September 17, 2023 by 7am at the Practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
No date has been announced for the kickoff of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season.
