Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi is set to miss their English Premier League season opener vs Arsenal on Saturday August 12.
This is according to Forest head coach Steve Copper who gave update on available players at the pre-match press conference for the first game of the 2023/2024 English Premier League season.
” Felipe, for sure. Moussa is just about returning to training, and so is Taiwo, so the game probably comes too soon for them,”Cooper told a press conference on Thursday.
Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi joined Nottingham Forest from German Bundesliga club, Union Berlin last summer and scored 10 goals to help the Reds secure their Premier League status.
Towards the end of the 2022/2023 season, red-hot Awoniyi scored vs Arsenal to preserve his teams top-flight status and end the Gunners slim hopes of winning the title.
Awoniyi’s Super Eagles teammates Ola Aina and Emmanuel Dennis are however available for the game, having participated fully in the clubs pre-season activities.
