Chelsea head coach, Enzo Maresca, said his team is making progress but emphasized the need for time and patience to reach the level of consistency achieved by clubs like Manchester City and Arsenal.

Despite Chelsea’s strong start under his management, Enzo Maresca remains cautious about their ability to compete for major trophies in his first season.

He highlighted the long-term stability enjoyed by City and Arsenal with their managers, noting that it takes time to build a winning team.

While acknowledging the significant investment in Chelsea’s squad, Enzo Maresca stressed the importance of allowing the team to develop and improve gradually.

After beating Gent 4-2 in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night, the Chelsea coach said, “I really don’t think we can compete with City or Arsenal.

“I really don’t think that because we are not ready. The reason is that City has worked with the same manager for nine years and Arsenal for five years. If you want to compete for big things you need that time.

“After Arsenal beat PSG, they asked Luis Enrique, and he said the same thing that Arsenal have had the same manager for five years and only a year and a half.

“Imagine us, only three months… so it’s a huge difference. So I am really convinced we cannot compete with those clubs.”

Coach Enzo Maresca and his boys will take on Nottingham Forest at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 6.
