Former Nigeria Super Eagles assistant coach Emmanuel Amunike has been named the new head coach of Heartland FC, SportsRation reports.
Heartland FC, which suffered relegation at the end of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, have reportedly acquired the NPFL slot from Beyond Limits and will compete in the 2024/25 season.
Amunike, who previously served as Director of Zanaco FC in Zambia, and was linked to the Super Eagles head coach job was officially unveiled by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma on Monday afternoon.
The Imo State Government-owned club have gone for the experienced Nigerian international as part of moves to restructure the club for a better outing in the Nigeria top-flight.
Heartland FC hopes Amunike will bring stability to the team and lead them back to their former glory, including a potential return to continental competition.
