Alex Iwobi fell to a 0-1 loss vs Calvin Bassey’s Fulham in their 2023/2024 English Premier League matchday one clash on Saturday August 12.

In a keenly contested game at Goodison Park, home of the Toffees, Nigerian International Alex Iwobi was in action for the entire game while compatriot Calvin Bassey was an unused substitute for the winning team.

With both sides evenly poised, Bobby Reid was the hero to hand Fulham all three points with a 73rd minute strike to get their campaign off to a flying start.

Iwobi came close to levelling the contest in the final minute but there was not enough on his header to force a share of the spoils at Merseyside.

A poor start for Iwobi and the Toffees again, a worry considering their relegation battles in the last two seasons.

In the other English Premier League results, Brighton spanked newly promoted Luton Town 4-1 to go top of the standings.

Crystal Palace pipped another newly promoted side Sheffield United 1-0, while Bournemouth held West Ham to a 1-1 draw, Dominic Solanke with the equalizer for the Cherries.
