Currently, the Super Eagles find themselves in a tough position, sitting second from the bottom in Group C with just three points from four matches. However, Omeruo remains optimistic about their qualification chances, emphasizing that the team’s path to the Mundial is still within reach despite the rocky start.
“The new coach brings a fresh perspective to the Super Eagles,” said Omeruo during a live session on his X handle, which he co-hosted with Ndidi. “We observed Mali’s strong organization in our friendly match last year and at AFCON, and with the abundance of talent we have in Nigeria, we expect to see even greater results.”
Ndidi echoed this sentiment, sharing his optimism about the possibilities ahead. He said, “With the quality within our squad and under the guidance of our new coach, I believe we have a strong chance to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
“It’s going to be a challenging journey, but we are united in our goal to secure our place in the World Cup.”
Looking ahead, the Super Eagles are set to compete against the Amavubi of Rwanda and the Warriors of Zimbabwe when the 2026 World Cup qualifiers resume in March.
