Nigerian hurdler Tobi Amusan is optimistic about clinching a medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Tobi Amusan, the world record holder, secured her spot in the semi-finals on Wednesday morning by winning Heat 1 with a time of 12.49 seconds.

American Alaysha Johnson finished second with a time of 12.61 seconds, and Jamaica’s Janeek Brown came in third with a time of 12.84 seconds.

In the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Amusan narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in the final. However, the 27-year-old is confident about her chances this time around.

“The first time I came as an Olympian, I was like 18/19. The second time I was a little bit more experienced but didn’t get on the podium. This time, I think it’s my season,” she told Making of Champions.

The semi-finals for the women’s 100m hurdles are scheduled to take place on Thursday.
