Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard is set to leave FC Seoul after the club announced that both parties had “mutually agreed” to terminate his contract.

The England international, who joined the South Korean side as a free agent in February 2024, will feature in his final match next Wednesday, an AFC Champions League encounter against Melbourne City.

Since arriving in the K League, the 32-year-old forward has made 66 appearances for Seoul, scoring 18 goals and becoming one of the club’s most recognisable foreign players.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Lingard expressed gratitude for his experience in Asia, praising the atmosphere around the team and the passion of supporters.

“My time in South Korea has been unbelievable, the football, the atmosphere and the passion around this club have been top class,” he wrote.

The former Premier League star added, “I’ll always be grateful for the opportunity to play for such a massive club.”

FC Seoul, in their statement, confirmed that Lingard had informed them of his desire to move on to the “next stage of his football career,” prompting the mutual agreement to part ways.

The club thanked him for his service and contributions as he prepares to close his chapter in the K League.
