Nigerian music has continued to make waves globally, but 2026 has so far seen no Nigerian album debut on the prestigious Billboard 200 chart.
The last Nigerian project to appear on the chart remains Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness, which made its Billboard 200 debut in July 2025, marking another major milestone for the Grammy-winning Afrobeats superstar.
The Billboard 200 ranks the most popular albums in the United States based on a combination of album sales, streaming activity, and digital consumption, making it one of the most competitive music charts in the world.
Over the years, Nigerian artists including Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, Rema, and others have continued to push Afrobeats into global spaces, earning international recognition and chart success. However, the absence of a new Nigerian album debut on the Billboard 200 this year highlights the challenge of maintaining consistent representation on one of music’s biggest platforms.
With Nigerian artists continuing to release major projects and expand their global audiences, fans are now watching closely to see which album will become the next Nigerian entry on the Billboard 200.
Who do you think will be the next Nigerian artist to debut on the Billboard 200?
Stay tuned to Tooxclusive for more chart updates, streaming milestones, and the latest stories shaping the global music scene.
