Katsina United have been ordered to play the rest of their home matches in Ilorin after the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) issued a fresh directive to the club on Thursday.
The new instruction means the Rashidi Yekini Stadium in Ilorin will now serve as their temporary base for the season. The development comes weeks after the Chanji Boys were first moved to the New Jos Stadium because of the crowd trouble that disrupted their NPFL home game against Barau FC.
With the latest decision now in effect, Katsina United will take on Enyimba this weekend in their matchday 14 fixture. The side heads into the encounter hoping to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Niger Tornadoes at the Bako Kotangora Stadium in Minna. The loss left them 13th on the table with 17 points as the league approaches a crucial phase.
Meanwhile, Remo Stars assistant coach Sulaiman Folarin has praised his players for grinding out a narrow 1-0 win over Kano Pillars on Wednesday at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta. Victor Mbaoma settled the game in the first half, giving Remo Stars a valuable response after their home loss to Rangers.
Folarin said the result was important for the team’s confidence. “It was a good game for us after losing at home in our last match against Rangers,” he told Remo Stars media. “The boys fought hard to get the victory. Overall, it’s a great game.
“Yes, we lost so many scoring chances, but defensively we are a little bit better, and we will improve more on goal scoring before our next game.”
Remo Stars will host Barau FC in Abeokuta this weekend as they aim to build on their midweek momentum in the NPFL.
